About two hundred miles from Silicon Valley is the Yosemite National Park... This trip is well worth the time taken to see some of the most spectacular scenery I have seen in a a long time. In addition to the spectacular views of the valley, there is also the Mariposa Grove which contains tree over 3000 years old. Below are some of the photo's I took whilst we were there... Click on the small images to see the larger picture. The image below contains a couple of hyperlinks for El-Capitan, Half Dome and Bridal Veil falls... For example, click on the waterfall...

Hidden from view in the clouds at the back is Half-Dome. To the left of El-Capitan is the Yosemite Falls, consisting of the Upper and Low falls. This is El-Capitan. This is apparently the name given at the time the first explorers saw this sheer cliff-face. This is Bridal Veil falls, which are named after the way it is a wide waterfall, not dissimilar to a bride's veil.Above is Half Dome, hidden by cloud in the pictures above. Away from the Valley, a nice place to sit down and have Sunday brunch is the Wawona Hotel... |
