The follow-up to Pininfarina's 1800 proposal - this smaller car, based on ADO16 was commissioned by Leyland management shortly after the take-over of BMH. This car was never pursued by BLMC, and was dropped in favour of the Allegro.
I would only add this car was a vital lost opportunity for BLMC - yes, the car would have been no more advanced than the Allegro, but most people would say that the styling of the Allegro was a definite barrier to sales. This car would not have been saddled with those problems: although it might not have appealed to the conservative Brits, it would have been lapped up by the Europeans.
