Launched three years after the Mini, the Morris 1100 (and its many later variants) had a tough act to follow, but its advanced design and Italian styling ensured that it was well up to the job, and between 1963 and 1971 it was the UK's best selling car.

Upmarket versions

Within a year, the Morris 1100 had been joined by MG and Vanden Plas versions. A Riley and a Wolseley followed in 1965.
