ERCOLE VELENOSI

From his 25 hectare farm, Ercole Velenosi produces approximately 200,000 bottle of absolutely stunning near biological wines.

346	£7.65	*ROSSO PICENO SUPERIORE IL BRECCIAROLO DOC 1995* A ruby to garnet red wine made from Sangiovese and Montepulciano. The wine has been aged in oak barrels for 6 months and has a pleasant and interesting bouquet.
447	£13.05	*ROSSO PICENO SUPERIORE ROGGIO DEL FILARE DOC 1995* Made from 50% Sangiovese and 50% Montepulciano it has been aged in steel tanks for 12 months, 12 months in oak barrels and 12 months in double barriques. Only 5000 bottles are produces of this dry, warm, velvety, harmonious, chewable red wine.
098	£6.60	*FALERIO dei COLLI ASCOLANI IL BRECCIAROLO DOC 1997* Made from 75% Trebbiano and 25% Passerina, Verdicchio and Malvasia this white wine is a shining straw yellow colour and has a cool, dry and pleasantly bitter taste.
199	£13.05	*IL BARRICATO DI VILLA ANGELA DOC 1996* This is an absolutely fabulous wine made from 100% Chardonnay. This wine is aged for 12 months in 5.5 hectolitre oak barrels from Allier, Never, Troncais, Limousin and Slovenia and has a never ending choice of tastes and sensations. Angela Velenosi describes this wine "as a meditating wine to be tasted silently".

CANTINA ENZO MECELLA

Enzo Mecella is recognised as one of the trailblazers in the Marches. Only 9% of all Verdicchio is produced in the Matelica region.

179	£13.05	*BRACCANO VdT 1993* A rare red wine made mainly from Ciliegiolo with a small part of Merlot which has been aged in barriques from the Allier for between 8 and 10 months. Enzo only sells this wine when he is happy that the bottle ageing means the wine has reached its full potential.
225	£5.35	*VERDICCHIO di MATELICA PAGLIANO DOC 1997* This is a good standard Verdicchio produced by a good producer and is sold in the traditional Verdicchio shaped bottle.
		*VERDICCHIO di MATELICA CASA FOSCA DOC 1995* *VERDICCHIO di MATELICA CASA FOSCA DOC 1996* The top of the range Verdicchio which has been mellowed in the cellar for 7 to 10 months before being released. The flavour simply explodes in the mouth. This wine is available only in the bordelaise bottles.
302	£9.30	*VERDICCHIO di MATELICA CASA FOSCA ANTICO DOC 1994* An extremely interesting barrique aged Verdicchio. The 1994 vintage was released in 1998.
