  • I have just completed a 5 page story, written by Phil Hester for Negative Burn #2. I'm not quite sure when it's due out but I'll keep you posted.
  • Big thanks to Mr Warren Ellis for his recommendation of the Atheist in his Bad Signal column. In fact, thanks are due to all the people who've been bigging up (as the young people say) this book, the feedback has been fantastic. You know who you are.
  • Atheist #2 is in the shops now, check out the Desperado Publishing website for preview pages, reviews and info on the other great comics they publish.

    June 2005
  • Finished #2 of the Atheist which will be in the shops shortly. Also just finished the cover for #4.
  • I've just done a variant cover for Mr T #1, being published by APC Comics. I guess I've got to say that I pity the fool who doesn't get his comic buying ass down to his local comic shop to purchase a copy.

    May 2005

  • The STRIPSEARCH 2 comic will be launched at the Comic Expo in Bristol next month. It is called Stuffed and features the art of some hot new talent. Come by the Hi8us table at the show and meet myself and the other artists. We'll even sell you a copy of the comic at a knock down price. Excelsior!". Check out the cover I've illustrated for it.
  • I've drawn a picture to contribute to the charity book being published at the Comic Expo in aid of Childline. The theme this year is best battles or greatest team-ups, and I've chosen to feature Hulk vs Mr Strong.

    March 2005
  • In the shops as of this week is the Dicks Xmas Special. I'd like to thank every one at Avatar Press for doing such a bang up job making sure this came out on time. All the same, it's funny stuff... read it in your fridge to get the ambience right.
  • My Sinister Dexter story is finally out, prog 1431 of 2000AD, with a great colouring job by Gary Caldwell. Also a great honour for me to be sitting beside the art of John Burns, whose work I've loved since I was a snot nosed kid reading Look-In and his fabulous Forever People.... and don't get me started on the Fists of Danny Pike in the Eagle... who owns this stuff and can't we have a tpb of it?"
  • The Atheist #1 is finished and will be in the shops if not now then very shortly. I've just finished the cover for #3 and am plowing my way through #2. Preview pages of the first issue can be found on the Desperado Publishing website.

  • Here are the illustrations for Yamaha Bikes Insider magazine. James Hodgkins coloured the pieces, and the issue is out now, but is exclusive to Yamaha club members. The 2 main guys featured in thr pictures are Everts and Rossi, the top Yamaha riders. The last I heard, they're thinking about turning the cover into a poster.

    December 2004
  • This is the first of , hopefully, many gig reviews I'll be doing in conjunction with my old drinking buddies Ben McCool and James Hodgkins. The first was of Nick Cave. I've been into Mr Cave's work for many years (cue nostalgic memories of heading round to me old pal Fred's house to listen to Release the Bats: Fred always had, and has, the best taste in music but I digress) and this was the second time I've seen him in concert. As you may have noticed Ben and I had a great time, natch!

This first review will appear in the Birmingham Post newspaper on Wednesday 15th Dec 2004. Anyone else out there in music mag land who might want to publish this, or any of our further reviews, can contact me for details. Upcoming gigs will hopefully include the Pogues and the mighty Neil Diamond! If the Mighty Diamonds are due to play I'll give 'em a whirl, too! End of shameless plug!

  • A big thanks to Stef and James at Showmasters for a great time at the London Film & Comic Con. Myself, Jock, Andy Diggle, Liam Sharpe, Glenn Fabry and David Lloyd were treated like royalty. Got to meet Dale Arden from Flash Gordon and Ray (Darth Maul) Park amongst others. Burt (Smokey and the Bandit) Reynolds was there, but I only got to see the moustache from across the room!
  • Started work on the Atheist. A new comic book written by Phil Hester, artist on Green Arrow. It is being published by Joe Pruett's new imprint Desperado Publishing in conjunction with Image Comics. It's 4 bi-monthly issues starting February 2005. In a nutshell the Atheist is a bastard version of Dr Who.
  • Scooby Doo #90 is just in the shops now, January 2005 cover date.
  • My Teen Titans Go! story has been reprinted in the first trade paperback digest vol 1. It's a sweet little package, go out and get it for your kids!

  • I am working for Yamaha, the makers of your favourite motorbikes - don't ask me how that happened, but I'm glad to be doing it.

    October 2004

  • Here are some of the 1600 original sketch cards for Topps and their new Star Wars Heritage line that I've completed.

September 2004
  • I'm doing a quick tour of Germany with James Hodgkins, these are the places, dates and times:

15 October: Pfälzer Comicstammtisch in Niederolm. Information thru: Eschott@aol.com

16th October: Terminal Entertainment, Frankfurt, from 11 through 3 pm.

17th October: Collectors´ Con (Sammler-Börse) in Dortmund, Westfalenhalle, from 11 through 3 pm.

  • Here is the published cover from the Placebo/2000AD poster magazine (see story below)
  • I'm always open to commissions from individuals who want an original illustration of their favourite comic book characters, or anything else for that matter! Here's an extract of a recent Hitman illustration that was requested.

August 2004

  • I will be making appearances at a couple of up and coming events:
  • Some excerpts from the Placebo/2000AD poster magazine I've just completed with colouring by Angus Mckie (see story below). It looks like it will also be distributed at the Leeds Festival, and may possibly be polybagged into the megazine.
  • I'm starting work on a new project for Desperado Publishing. It's written by Phil Hester (Firebreather, Green Arrow) and the first issue is tentatively scheduled for Jan 2005.
  • Yet another story for Scooby Doo (DC Comics) written by John Rozrum (again) to be published I - don't - know - when. Pencils and inks by yours truly. I do love drawing Scooby and the gang. Still haven't got up the nerve to watch the movies, even if they do star my pal John Cassaday.

    Scooby Doo
  • Watch out for the second Dicks Xmas Special at the end of the year. As usual it'll come with two variant covers - a standard cover, and a rude version. Here is a preview of the clean version.

    Dicks
  • I'm currently drawing 1600 original sketch cards for Topps and their new Star Wars Heritage line. These are inserted randomly into packs - generally one card per box.
  • Here are the layouts for a poster magazine I'm doing for 2000AD featuring rock band Placebo to be given away at their upcoming gig at the Reading Festival at the end of this month. It's an A1 size poster with a 6 page story ( written by Si Spurrier) on the back featuring the band, the Dark Judges and Judge Anderson.... all very cool. I'm pencilling and inking the whole sheebang. Keep an eye out here for more pics from the mag as I complete them.

June 2004

  • I've made an addition to the 'Script to Stall' section with the inclusion of the production of a page of artwork for the recent Judge Dredd story published in 2000AD.

May 2004

  • Following the positive review in last month's Comics International, I've taken heed of some of the comments and transferred the 'Script to Stall' section from the old website into this one. It can now be located in the Artists Corner.
  • Years after Grant Morrison and myself were proposing to do a Scooby Doo story together, I've finally got the chance to draw Scooby Doo at last. I've just completed an 8 page story for Cartoon Network/DC Comics. Check out a preview page as the strip is probably unlikely to be published before the Autumn. Story is written by John Rozum whom I drew a Superman story with for DC Comics a few years ago.
  • I've added some colour pages from Teen Titans Go! to the website. Issue 4 is currently in the shops.
  • Sinister Dexter strip completed for 2000AD.

  • Welcome to the relaunch of my website which I have revamped to provide a clearer more streamlined interface. It should hopefully make life a lot easier for me to update stuff on a more regular basis. Let me know what you think, particularly if you have any ideas for improving the site.
  • I'm working with a group off aspiring comic artists teaching them the ropes of working in the comics field. This is being funded by the fine folks at Hi8us whom I worked with last year on the Animatix project. The funding they have got is allowing us to produce a comic showcasing all the students work. This will be launched at Bristol Comic Con 2004 and will be on sale for the reasonable price of £1. I've done a cover for the comic. Both myself and the students (see photo) will be at the convention for both days if you want to stop by and say hello - especially prospective publishers!!

  • Check out the Star Wars Clone Wars Sketch Card Gallery featuring trading cards I have produced for Topps at the Star Wars website.
  • Working on a six page story being published by Avatar for their charity anthology book. Proceeds are going to the very worthy ACTOR fund which provides help to struggling artists and their families. The story is written by Ben McCool (yes that's really his name) and I am pencilling and inking it.
    Titanic Judge Dredd
  • Just completed a six page Judge Dredd story for 2000AD which I pencilled and inked, written by Gordon Rennie and coloured by Chris Blythe. It will appear in the May 12th issue.
  • Currently working on a Sinister Dexter story for 2000AD which I am pencilling and inking - it's written by Dan Abnett. Haven't a clue when this one is appearing either.
  • I've done a pin-up for the City of Silence TPB (Image Comics), written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by Gary Erskine. I'm in good company with the likes of Andi Watson and Chris Weston.

City of Silence

January 2004
  • I am working with writer William Harms on a zombie western 'Dead or Alive' which is currently in development. We are looking for a publisher and if there are any interested parties, comtact either William or myself. More details of the synopsis can be found on William's website.
  • I've completed the pencils on an issue of Teen Titans Go with inks by James Hodgkins for DC Comics. Check out some of the finished inked pages.

Teen Titans Go

  • I am currently lecturing in illustration for Hi8us. I have previously collaborated with them on an animated web based comic called Animatix.

Selected entries from previous years:

  • Excerpt from Tripwire magazine (July 2003) featuring my artwork from Hulk Smash, alongside a still from the movie.
  • Incredible Hulk

  • I attended the Jornadas Del Comic Festival in Avilles, Asturias, Spain (September 2002). Guests included Brian Bolland, and Barry Kitson from the UK, and Paul Ryan, Peter Gross and Stuart Immonen from the USA. I declare Paul Ryan and Stuart Immonen to be top quality geezers! Brian Bolland and Peter Gross also fall under this category, but they knew that already

    San Diego Convention

  • Some photos from my annual trip to the San Diego Convention (August 2002). Find out who I hung out with whilst I was there.

    Star Wars

  • Thanks to Christian and the rest of the gang in Santiago, Chile, Paul Gulacy and I had a great time at the Mission Santiago Comic Convention (Nov 2001). The sun shone, the fans were friendly and the girls gorgeous! See photos and comments by clicking here.
