Note that he didn't get credit for writing all the stories, as Mark Miller and Grant Morrison were still involved for some of the earlier ones in his stint, but he gradually took over and (with Dave Conway) continued.

To his credit this shift from one set of writers to another was virtually imperceptible to the reader, as the spirit of the continuing storyline seemed to be continuous, perhaps due to Dave Bogart's editorial input.

One of the marks of his time was the broad sweep to the plot that was introduced, whether in the Lady Death/Vampirella battle in Drakulon or when the Black Sun threatened to destroy the world (yet again) and Vampirella relied on cosmic forces to defeat it.

Steve Grant's stories were epic in proportion, stretching our belief systems as he took Vampirella into a completely new direction. In view of the obvious success of the story from Ascending Evil up to his own involvement this was an obvious achievement.
