Bill Dubay is one of the most prolific of Vampirella's scribes, taking over from Archie Goodwin as editor of the Warren line of magazines as well as on the scripting of the Vampi stories. Dubay's stint saw Vampirella through the earlier stories of demons, devils and the infamous Blood Red Queen of Hearts, into the Hollywood era when Vampi and Pantha decide to become starlets of cheap horror films, and out the other side when Vampi and Panth become amateur detectives solving crimes of the supernatural. His output was legendary, and his style, albeit muted in comparison with Goodwin, was workmanlike. William Dubay joined Warren in 1969 and stayed until 1982, a year before Warren Publishing collapsed. He took over as editor of all the magazines in 1972 when Archie Goodwin left, and stayed in various editorial roles over the years. After he left Warren he focused on animation and film work. |
