There is no mistaking the classic costume Vampirella wore during her time with Warren magazines. Although the original costume was pretty daring for the time (it definitely didn't cover very much of Vampi) it was her trademark and no-one really copied it. |

Of course Jose Gonzales was the main artist to draw Vampirella and her costume during this time (as in the picture left) and he imbued her with a classic beauty that has rarely been matched (the closest in my opinion is Joe Jusko). The real question, though, is why the inhabitants of Drakulon wore such revealing outfits. That secret has been lost in time, and if you believe the intricacies of Vampirella's origin, you'll realise it's academic. |

One of the endearing characteristics of Vampi's time with Warren is that she also wore other clothes, such as the leopard jacket below or flared trousers (on the right). |

Despite this, she usually appeared in her classic costume which only occasionally created a reaction from the other characters in the story (especially Pendragon with whom she shared much of her time). Most of the time they appeared not to notice her very skimpy outfit. But then, after all, that is one of the traditions of comics, isn't it? |
