The first issues of the new Vampirella series were much the same as most other series, in that Issue #1 contained the most alternative covers, sporting the usual gold, platinum and royal blue covers. However this time there was a difference. Issue #1 had 4 regular covers as well, something of a record. |

Vampirella 01 As with most first issues there are a plethora of covers to grab our attention. Starting off, there are four regular covers. After that start looking for the usual platinum, gold and royal blue covers, as well as the black and white art in the limited convention cover. One slight oddity - Harris released a so-called 'holo-fx' cover of the J Scot Campbell cover, limited to 2,000 issues. However the printer can only produce 1,000 or so of a chrome cover, so in order to prevent a fan shortage (as happened with the Death of Vampirella holochrome cover) Harris produced two different varieties of 'holo-fx', 1,000 copies of the 'rainbow' holochrome cover and 1,000 copies of the 'gold' chrome cover. Although my scans don't show the difference very clearly, when you are looking at the real thing there is an obvious difference between the two. |
