Vampirella/Witchblade This crossover is a good example of what a crossover shouldn't be - sadly. The story is just weak, the art pedestrian. As you may have guessed I was disappointed - mainly because it could have been so much more. I mean - what on earth is going on? Who is the mysterious girl Vampirella is chasing? How come Sara hasn't heard of Vampirella (after all, she works in New York where the Harris offices are!!)? Okay, I'm being a bit harsh here, but I have to say this isn't one of my favourites. That said, the regular cover by Mark Texeira, is a dream. It reminds you of similar work he has done with Vampirella and Pantha. What a shame the inside story disappoints. There were a couple of very limited editions, the gold foil and blue foil, with the usual Harris limitations of 500 and 100 issues respectively. I have to admit when Harris say limited they really mean it (unlike some publishers). Dynamic Forces produced a really rare hardcover volume collected this crossover and the Top Cow Vampirella/Magdalena crossover as well (see below). They also produced a rare black and white follow-up to the Witchblade and Magdalena crossovers in the Witchblade/Magdalena/Vampirella crossover. |
