One of the most enjoyable collectables (in my view) is a set of trading cards. Perhaps it's a link to the cards that were given away in cigarette packets and tea packets (anyone else remember the old Brooke Bond cards?) but I just find trading cards really nice to hold, look at and own. For example, on the left is one of the best examples of the trading card, with a Jose Gonzales picture of Vampirella from the Vampirella Gallery series. There is something very extraordinary about holding this card, not just from the art itself but from the act of owning such a terrific example of Vampirella. Perhaps I'm getting carried away here ..... One of the companies that has really developed trading cards is Topps, and they produced the first three sets of Vampirella Trading cards in 1995 and 1996. In 1997 Comic Images and Harris produced the fourth set. An image of each card is available on the Scott Stockwell site which you can reach via my links page. My intention in this part of the web site was simply to reveal the more specialised collectable promo cards for the serious Vampi collector. |
