Few galleries offer such a vibrant
range of abstract and non-figurative work, with artists from
America, France, Germany, Switzerland and Britain. We started
the gallery because we wanted to give a platform to the most
exciting contemporary abstract painters and sculptors and
put them alongside modern masters such as Sam Francis and
Alan Davie.
The recent exhibitions of Barnett Newman at Tate Modern and
Joan Mitchell at the Whitney Museum, New York are part of
a wider, re-emerging debate about abstraction in contemporary
art. Broadbent is making an important contribution to that
debate.
