Tanyard Barn is a character cottage
with a host of original beams.
It is situated beside the owners 17th Century character house
in the village of Biddenden. As the name suggests, it was originally
used as a Tannery and has recently been carefully renovated throughout.
The cottage is tastefully furnished with many personal touches,
offering a high quality holiday home. There is also a secluded
area of the owners pretty cottage garden for you to enjoy and
relax in.
Biddenden village is one of the
most unspoilt villages in the country with a host
of medieval and 17th Century buildings lining the main street.
The village is famous for having Siamese twin sisters Elisa and
Mary, who lived in the village for many years during the 12th
Century. There is a good selection of pubs and restaurants, a
village shop for everyday needs and a post office. The bus service
runs to neighbouring villages, including Tenterden and Headcorn.
The main line rail station from Headcorn has a journey time to
London of approximately one hour.
A visit to this area provides
you with an abundance of character buildings and picturesque
villages. For garden lovers the
famous Sissinghurst gardens and Great Dixter are close by. An
ideal location for a day trip to France, with Ashford International
station only 20 minutes and the channel ports within a 30 minute
car journey. The historic towns of Canterbury, Rochester and
Tunbridge Wells are all easily accessible by car, as is the popular
town of Rye, with its cobbled streets and neighbouring south
coast.
