What's New on The Andrews Pages

since 1st January, 2002, with a few earlier additions mentioned
For those who are interested in the latest additions and changes to our website.
Links take you to the page or section of the site,
though not necessarily directly to the new information.

Although our site has been on-line since 1996 it is only since early in 2002 that have we included a 'What's New' section for this part of the site. The latest additions to the Matlock and Matlock Bath section aren't included here as they are listed elsewhere onsite unless they apply generally, in which case they are also included below. The site is continually being reviewed and updated. Minor changes, e.g. 'typos', not included here.

Cromford, Derbyshire: A collection of trades directory transcripts - and a quotation
Although transcripts of three Cromford trades directories have been onsite for some time, they didn't have their own index. Cromford Directories now have an index and two new transcripts have been added. I've linked to a good deal of onsite material from the page, there's a photo of Cromford Village and a quotation from Firth's 1908 book about Derbyshire.
The two new directory transcripts are:
1. Kelly's 1895 Directory } Photocopies of both directories were sent to me a while ago by Martin Rowley
2. Kelly's 1899 Directory } and I've finally scanned them. Thank you, Martin.

Oct 2003 New Pages:
Wolley Manuscripts Derbyshire
This is a major collection of pre 1828 manuscripts, many relating to Derbyshire, that were collected by Mr. Adam Wolley of Matlock and given to the British Museum before he died. Presented in alphabetical order to aid research.
If you are already familiar with the Wolley Manuscripts, Matlock that are onsite you'll find these a welcome addition as they cover the whole county as opposed to Matlock and District. Information in this section has been extracted by the webmistress from articles written by Rev. Charles J. Cox, LL.D., F.S.A. that were published in the Journals of the Derbyshire Archaeological and Natural History Society, so is slightly different from the Matlock information as it is extracted from a different source. You may need to look at both, but there are links from the Derbyshire section to help you where necessary. For those interested in either Wensley or Snitterton, deeds relating to both places are now included in the Matlock section
