as a result of, war |

About the information supplied
below:
The information has been carefully checked and extracted from indexes
formerly held at the Family Record Centre, London (now closed). It
has also been compared against the information supplied by the CWGC.
There has been more than one instance where the CWGC had the
surname as SMITHERS and not SMITHIES, as is listed by the GRO. However,
when they have been approached the CWGC have very kindly checked
the entries against their originals and changed their master database
as necessary.
Most of the references listed below were found in the volumes in
the section marked Death Overseas: War Records at the FRC. If you
apply for certificates, do ensure that the death is from Death Overseas:
War Records and not from the ordinary GRO listings.
Some
individuals are included amongst the civilian deaths of the time and
in these cases you will need to apply for an ordinary death certificate.
| To help you, all refences
coloured grey, |
e.g. SMITHIES, |
are to be found in the ordinary, i.e. the
Civilian, Death Indexes. |
The full reference is supplied, including District, Volume number
and page reference. The Quarter the individual died in is also supplied
alongside the year of death for these references.
Those people who lived in other countries - e.g. Australia - are
not included here as the references to their deaths are not available
in the U.K. If you have information about them, please email (see
footer) and I'd be happy to include it. |
