June 2001 New pages:
- Cotton Manufacture, Willersley and Sir Richard Arkwright : a further extract from The Beauties of England and Wales (1802), written shortly after Arkwright's death, very generously sent by Sonia Addis Smith. There's an engraving of Willersley Castle.
- Images : a complete new section of photographs, postcards, engravings, etchings and maps not included on the history pages. Some of the pages have additional information and all are linked to a variety of pages within the site. Included is a photograph of Miss Florence Nightingale, 'The Lady With the Lamp' which is published here courtesy of The Florence Nightingale Museum, London. This photograph is of Florence as a young lady and I am extremely grateful to the Museum for their generosity.

- The Wolley Manuscripts : A major collection of pre 1828 documents, reproduced from the catalogue at Matlock Local Studies Library with the very kind permission of "Derbyshire Libraries and Heritage Department". With sincere thanks to them, Matlock LSL staff and to Miriam Wood, who created the indexes. Additional information has been extracted from articles written by Rev. Charles J. Cox, LL.D., F.S.A. and published in the Journals of the Derbyshire Archaeological and Natural History Society. My grateful thanks to Jane Steer for her help with the latter.

- Matlock St. Giles Marriages - 1637-1837 has a new index page, some corrections and additions and there is a better explanation of the dates (old and new calendar) in the notes about Phillimore's Marriage Indexes
Over 208 marriages were by licence between 1637 - 1812. These were omitted from the original lists, but I have now added them. The new format is much easier to read.
- Funeral Garland in Matlock Church - an ancient custom. Sonia Addis Smith has generously sent copies from 'Bemroses' Guide to Matlock' (dated about 1869) and I have been able to scan an image of one of the garlands.
- Churches and Chapels - there a quote from 'Bemroses' Guide to Matlock' under the section about St. Giles Church
- Alterations to the 17th Century Lists so some longer lists are now on individual pages:

See the snippet about Ernest Bailey under Ernest Bailey Grammar School and the quotation about some 'famous names' of visitors to Smedley's Hydro at the end of the 1891 Kelly's Directory section. My thanks to Helen Prevett for typing it.
-1861 census index : this 'as enumerated' index is now finished with 1157 more names, and 1 unnamed absentee, added. Enumeration District 15 has been completed and ED 16 is finished. ED 16 is the last ED for Matlock and the hamlet and Ecclesiastical District of Tansley follows on

Jan 2001 New pages:
- Bank Road and the Tram : the steepest tramway in the world was in commercial use in Matlock for over 34 years. Some of this information used to be on the Matlock page.
- Flooding : the River Derwent has overflowed its banks on more than one occasion in the town's history. Some of this information used to be on the Matlock page.
- Photographs of Rockside : Paul Kettle has been able to take a series of photos of the building, a top rated hotel at the beginning of the twentieth century, in its present state.
Additions to:
- 1861 census index : 1011 more names added as Enumeration District 13 and 14 have just been completed and ED 15 has been begun.
- Matlock has better links, more information and some new photos. In particular see the sections on:
Matlock Bank and Moor with a photo of Bank Road
Matlock Bridge with a photo of Crown Square and the bridge, one of the bandstand in the Hall Leys park and the names of a few employers from the 1908 Kelly's Directory.
