Some additional notes:

'Rock Side Hydropathic Establishment was erected by Mr Charles ROWLAND, in 1862, and subsequently considerably enlarged.'
"History, Topography and Directory of Derbyshire" (1895) by T. Bulmer and Co, p.417, Matlock

Charles ROWLAND, living at Rockside in the 1871 census, advertised as a Professor of Hydropathy & Land Owner; he was born at Burton on Trent in Staffordshire. In 1871 his wife Sarah was living slightly down the hill as she was running Matlock House Establishment; she too stated that she was a Professor of Hydropathy & Land Owner; she was born at Cotton in the Elms, Derbyshire. They advertised in several Trades Directories including Kelly's 1864. By 1876 they were only advertising Matlock House Hydro.
