A Quiet Revolution

Producing the lowest cost biogas fuelled chp on the market.

For over thirty six years, the oil and gas industry has been using AJAX sour gas engines to pump oil and gas using unrefined gas at up to 6% H2S as a fuel. The engines have been located in remote, unattended fields in desert and arctic wastelands.

One of the earliest AJAX engines, configured with an internal gas compressor, has now run for almost 300,000 hours. This is equivalent to driving a car at 50 miles per hour for 15 Million miles! In its lifetime, an AJAX engine can run the same number of hours as 100 high speed multicylinder engines 'end to end'.

Such remarkable performance is due to the AJAX design philosophy: to engineer reliability into the design - not bolt it on, and to reduce both component count and component speeds.

The unique bulkhead behind the power piston prevents acidic combustion products from entering the crankcase and contaminating the bearings - click on diagram ---->

Practically Green has converted these engines into efficient CHP units (see data sheet) operating on unrefined biogas producing electricity at the lowest cost per kwh generated in the digester gas market today!
