The ways you lose money through taxation
Just how much tax are you paying?

Lets think about all the ways in which you pay tax when you work in Britain

INCOME TAX : Between 20 and 40% of what you earn goes immediately. Oh yes there is the condescending "allowance" as if the government allows you to earn in the first place!

NATIONAL INSURANCE : There goes another 9% of your income

COMMUNITY TAX : What a vile phrase! Anyway - there go several hundred pounds a year.

VAT : When you finally get round to spending your money, for which you have worked, you pay an extra 17.5% ontop of the price of whatever you buy. Oh, the government 'kindly' does'nt levy that on food and childrens clothes - how considerate!

And incase you have any money left there are a whole host of little sneaky taxes which catch up with you when you invest, when you travel and when you die!

And if you happen to be running a business then you face a legion of other taxes too!

But what about all the goods you get for that?

You mean roads (car tax, road tax, ridiculous fuel tax (a litre of unleaded is sold for about 13p, the rest is tax), public transport (is that cheap then?), The NHS (prescription charges, heavy taxes on smoking & drinking)

You're getting the idea. What you may want is not what another person may choose. So what right do you have to force him to pay? I like roads, trains & health provision but what right do I have in making you pay for it? Anyway, compare your National Insurance bill with a healthcare plan. Likewise every ifrastructure good which the free market purportedly cannot supply it actually can. The links on this site point to sites where such information may be found readily.

Now for the rant - Millenium Globe, subsidosed operas and theatres and innumerbale local government initiatives are pouring your money down the drain without so much a backward glance. Did they ask you? Did you ask them to do this?

Well stop it!!!!! Stop voting for tax fiends! Its your money not theirs! Tell them so in the balot box.

Ok, finally I'll adress a response you may encounter. It goes something like this - "But if you hadn't gone to state school and benefitted from state health and state infrastructure you wouldnt have gotten to where you are today, you have to give something back". Last time I checked we couldn't vote at the age of 4! Nor could one be considered a rational independant human at that age. We are not reponsible for our predessecors either.
