The BBC has no right!

The BBC is immoral?
If you wish to
own a TV in Britain you must by a TV license, the funds of which go to the
British Broadcasting Corporation - an essentially state regulated 'enterprise'
vested with this power to tax. It is not a charge for viewing the BBC (which
would be a valid trade) it is a charge for owning a piece of equipment by which
you could potentially view the BBC - even if you never actually tune in, or even
switch it on!!
I have no problem with any channel funding itself by trade
with the viewer (Sky) or by advertising alone (ITV), but the BBC does neither.
It uses the force of government to extract your property if you choose to buy a
TV set!
You could answer "but you don't have to by a TV" - no you don't,
but what if you wanted to watch ITV and Sky, and decided to say "thanks, but no
thanks" to the BBC? You cannot by law do this!
Now that is
ridiculous!
RANT! : Note how the BBC now spends your money trying to
convince you that it is a good providor because its 'unique' method of funding
(state sanctioned expropriation) is not voluntary. They do this out of
recognition of the fact that increasing choice (thanks technological
innovators!) in the form of satellite, cable and digital TV are fast eroding
their dominant position, are usurping them. I look forward to the day the BBC
has to start competing instead of taxing!
