- Saint Chad's is a church with an eclectic congregation set in a parish which has a predominantly Muslim population.
Worship is Traditional Anglo-Catholic in nature - we use the English Missal at most Masses.
- We have a branch of The Mother's Union which meets once a month.
- St Chad's is home to the Ward of Saint Faith of the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament. Our principal activity is the monthly Holy Hour when we spend time in prayerful contemplation before the Blessed Sacrament.
- Our concern for the sick in body and mind is expressed in our membership of the
Guild of St Raphael for the Ministry of Healing. The sick are prayed for at every service and their needs form the special Intention of one Wednesday evening Mass each month.
- A Cell of the Society of the Holy House of Our Lady of Walsingham, the Fraternity of Our Lady of Walsingham, Saint Chad and All Saints, was inaugurated at the beginning of 2002 with Fr Crowe as its first Superior. Most members of the cell make an annual pilgrimage to Walsingham at the end of August. A Mass of Our Lady of Walsingham is said in Saint Chad's on one Saturday morning each month.
(If you visit the Walsingham website, click on Membership and then on Cells).
- We publish a monthly magazine - St Chad's Journal.
An electronic version (in MS Word format) is available. Contact The Editor if you would like to receive a copy by e-mail.
- Our Home Mission is the Additional Curates Society.
- Overseas we support the work of the United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel.
Until his death, in May 2002, we supported Bishop Keith Benzies in his care of the people of northern Madagascar. Our contributions now go to Project 404 (Schools & Hostels in Madagascar), a project dear to Bishop Keith's heart.
- We hold an annual Christingle Service in support of the The Children's Society and are involved in house-to-house collection for Christian Aid.
- Starting on Trinity Sunday each year, the children of the Sunday School choose a charity to support. This year (2003-04) they have chosen The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
Last year the 12 children, together with their parents and Sunday School Teachers, raised £536 for Martin House - a Hospice for Children & Young People based in Boston Spa, near Wetherby.
- We regularly support Traidcraft with a stall selling goods from "Third World" countries which have been produced at a fair wage.
- Last year we decided that, as part of our Harvest Thanksgiving, we would support the work of Seeds for Africa through its "Harvest Festival Appeal 2002". The charity, based at the University of Kent, provides vegetable seeds, equipment and technical advice to those in need in Africa. (We already use Harvest as a time to stock our Parish Larder which provides for those in need who call at the vicarage.)
- St Chad's is registered with Forward in Faith in London.
The Diocesan organisation is Forward in Faith in Bradford.
- We are an affiliated parish of The Church Union. The Vicar is the chairman of the Bradford Branch.
