THE COAT OF ARMS OF WARWICKSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
Throughout many centuries, the bear and the ragged staff were separate devices used by the Earls of Warwick but eventually they were combined: it is no surprise that this emblem came to be regarded as representing Warwickshire. The three crosslets come from the arms of the Beauchamps, who became Earls of Warwick in the 13th century.
