bull.gif (191 bytes) We now have in stock many aerial photos of the area. We have ones of Alcester datine from 1948, 1967, 1972, 1906 and 1989. These are very useful for making comparisons. We also have some of Arrow and Studley for 1972.

bull.gif (191 bytes) Recently arrived in a set of new definitive footpoth maps for South Warwickshire. As it is a long time ago, that the last on were prepared, there are many alterations and amendments. They are shelved near the local history collection in a map cabinet

bull.gif (191 bytes) New books recently added. to stock include: 'Puritanism at Alcester 1592 - 1662': Martin Cutmore of Alcester has researched this for his master's degree in history and has kindly deposited a copy at the library.

bull.gif (191 bytes) We have in our stock the Civic Society's leaflets on local walks : there is one each on Oversley, Arrow, Coughton and Alcester Heath: also in stock and on sale is the Civic Society's Country Walks near Alcester - 12 local walks are described in good detail

bull.gif (191 bytes) Mrs Betty Smith, the 'Stratford Herald' columnist, until her recent move to France, has written two books:

1. 'Hidden Warwickshire' (Countryside Books 1990) in which she takes the reader on a tour of fascinating variety around the county; she discovers tiny hamlets, manor houses, ruins and follies - local places such as Alcock's Arbour, Arrow, Billesley, Binton, Exhall are explored.

2. 'Warwickshire Murders' looks: at a series of horrid crimes which took place in the county over the last 400 years.

bull.gif (191 bytes) An interesting... book 'A 'Warwickshire Christmas' compiled by David Green (Alan Button 1990) is an anthology of writings about Christmas in the county from gifted writers from long ago to the present day.
