Explorer v 4+ only)Introduction.
As a part of the continued development of this site we have started to explore the use of
DHTML as a method of delivering interactive content for both teaching and learning. Our
first forays into this area are a Drag and Drop vocabulary game ;a Matching Pairs game a
Cloze testing program and now Speed Word.
These have been developed using a DHTML API
written by Dan Steinman at the Dynamic Duo web
site and will hopefully show the way in which this new development can be used to deliver
full animated, interactive content across the web without the use of plugins etc.

Drag And
Drop Vocabulary Game
Game play is fairly straighforward, players are presented with a selection of ten
vocabulary words or phrases drawn at random from a topic bank. They then have to match the
words by dragging the appropriate translation - blue tiles - into place. When all ten
tiles have been positioned, marks are awarded; time taken displayed and corrections shown.
N.B. if the program initially fails to load correctly simply click on Reload or Refresh
Click Start to start the game timer, New Game
for a new set of words

Matching Pairs Game
There are many versions of this game on the web utilising Java and Javascript. This
version has the advantage that it is easily extended to cover any vocabulary from any
language.

Cloze Test
A DHTML version of the classic 'cloze' - missing words- test. This version of the script
is restricted in some ways but is nevertheless a useful addition to our range of Internet
based CALL software. Once again this is easily authorable for any text

Reload/Refresh usually clears any problems
The game may be easily adapted for other vocabulary lists/texts. Non profit
making educational users are welcome to do so provided the orginal sources are
acknowledged. If you do adapt these for other lists, please let me know and I'll add a
link. Notes on doing this will be here available shortly.
Commercial use of these resources is strictly forbidden, this includes
inclusion for distribution as shareware; inclusion in subscription listings e.g.
Educentre, Edutoolz etc.
