Classification

Inspection is used to classify items, not only in terms of conformance but also sometimes on a Likert scale. Typical uses of such classification are:

• Conformance to the requirements of various market segments
• Selective assembly
• Data gathering for process improvement
• Identifying candidates for concession or rework
