ACTION GUIDE TO A NEW JOB

MAJOR CORPORATES HELP LAUNCH NEW STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE FOR JOB SEEKERS

The Evening Standard, together with help and advice from professionals from companies such as the BBC, Coca-Cola & Schweppes Beverages, Manpower and Debenams, has today (1 April 1996) launched its first ever in-depth, step-by-step guide "Action Guide to a new JOB" (attached).

The Action Guide will aid and encourage school, college, further education leavers, people who have been made redundant, back to work mothers and people with disabilities, find the right job, compile their CV into a sales tool, encourage them to apply their true personality and skills at interview and this ~ead working to one's strengths.

Recent findings from the institute for Employment Studies into the "Changing World of Work" reports that businesses need greater flexibility and a wider range of skills from people applying for jobs.

Joe Dunne has been in the field of career management for nine years. In 1987, he specialised in outplacement - the practical process by which redundant people are given help to obtain another job. Over the years, he has specialised in working with the public sector and has run workshops advising redundant people on how to work for themselves. Participants included people from well known companies such as National Power, BT and IBM. He has also counselled senior personnel on interview techniques.
