The Royal Parks Agency is to provide Braille guide books for each of the eight royal parks in and around London.
The existing guide books are being transcribed into Braille by Eve Hardiman, a retired Ministry of Defence computer programmer, who is completely blind.
Miss Hard iman is doing the work free of charge as her efforts are supported by a local charity in her home area of Southampton. The guide books will be available from park offices free to Braille readers.
Miss Hardiman, who became blind when she was 20 years old, has already transcribed guides to 250 National Trust properties.
The eight royal parks are; Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, St James's Park, Green Park, The Regent's Park and Primrose Hill, Greenwich Park, Richmond Park and Bushy Park.
