Welcome
Come and join us for Friendly Bridge every Thursday. Our venue is the Church Hall, Our Lady Queen of Peace RC Church, 222 Sheen Road, Richmond-upon-Thames, TW10 5AN. This is a spacious airy hall with a large onsite car park. It’s about three quarters of a a mile east of Richmond close to where the Sheen Road runs into the Upper Richmond Road. This makes it easily accessible from Richmond, Sheen, Putney, etc. Click this link for a map. The bridge is hosted by full-time professional bridge teacher organiser Ned Paul who also runs bridge in several other venues around London.

New players and visitors are always welcome at no extra charge and we operate a host system so that single players are guaranteed a partner.

Every third Thursday we offer a choice of two sessions: social play in the morning and club-standard duplicate bridge in the afternoon.

Social Bridge For Improvers
Thursday mornings, 9.30am-12.00noon. This is a well-established group but we always welcome new players. We have grown strongly in numbers over the last few years. This session is ideal for social players, newcomers and improvers. Players may ask for advice from the expert tutor and this level of bridge is ideal if you are trying to make the transition from basic home player to club standard. Come with or without a partner – partners are found for single players for all sessions. A short formal lesson on an aspect of bidding or play (ca. 20 minutes) is given at 10.00am approx. Chicago scoring is recommended but is optional. Table money is £5.00 including tea/coffee and biscuits.

Duplicate Bridge
First & Third Thursday afternoons, 1.00pm-4.15pm. In addition to the social bridge described above, on the first and third Thursdays of each month we run a duplicate tournmament in the afternoon. The morning bridge still takes place but on these days you have a choice of sessions. If you are an experienced duplicate player - or even if you are not - why not come and play this popular form of club bridge. We play a full duplicate of approx. 24 boards. Scoring is by Bridgemate electronic technology meaning that results are available instantly at the end of the session. Come with or without a partner – partners are found for single players for all sessions. Table money is £6.00 including tea/coffee and biscuits, available throughout on a help yourself basis. There is no membership fee.

Next dates (Thursdays 1.00pm): December 15th 2011; January 5th 2012; January 19th 2012, February 2nd 2012; etc

Results are posted promptly on the results page.

This is an intensive but fun way to learn, it gets all the basics out of the way at one time and after the course you will be welcome to join one of our playing groups.
