Play Bridge – It’s Fun!

Exercise your wits at the world’s most popular card game. Teams of two vie to come out on top. Gain a new social skill and meet like-minded people.

Aces Hi! is a lively London-based network for learning and playing bridge. Beginners, refreshers and more experienced players all catered for. We meet in different parts of London currently including Primrose Hill (Camden), Canary Wharf and Marylebone in the evenings.

We think bridge should be fun – we use congenial venues where you can get a drink while you play. We offer classes for absolute beginners – see below – but if you know the basics, even at a most rudimentary level, just show up at one of our games and you will be made welcome and we will soon get you improving and having fun.

If you’ve recently done beginner lessons, with us or elsewhere, or learnt some time ago, feel a bit rusty and want to brush up your bridge, we are the group for you. We will help you learn and progress; advice is available when needed at all times. More experienced players are equally welcome. Many of our players graduate to regular club games.

Singles, couples and groups all welcome. Single players can come without a bridge partner and are always guaranteed a game.

Our weekday evening programme includes [for daytime bridge scroll down]:

  • Bridge practice night at the Princess of Wales, 22 Chalcot Road, NW1 8LL every Wednesday from 7.15pm onwards. Just turn up for an informal game, join an available table and receive help and advice as required. The Princess of Wales is in the Primrose Hill area of Camden, just north of Regents Park. Click to Playing Opportunities for more info about the venue. The host is Kit Jackson. Kit also writes a weekly blog.

  • Gentle duplicate bridge for newer players every Thursday at the Wargrave Arms, 40-42 Brendon Street,W1H 5HE from 7.15pm. This is very close to Edgware Road underground station (Circle & District lines). No partner required, all standards welcome, incl. first-time duplicate players. We play till about 10.00pm ish. Click to Playing Opportunities for more info about the venue. The host is Ned Paul. Just come or email, text or phone Ned first if you prefer - 07792 715517.

  • Social bridge games and practice every Wednesday at Reebok Sports Club London, Canada Square, London E14 5ER from 6.30pm. Join an available table and receive help and advice as required. We play till about 9.30pm. Click to Playing Opportunities for more info about the venue. 2011: Space in the Reebok Club has become more limited and you need to contact us in advance: if you would like to come please email, text or phone Ned by Tuesday evening - 07792 715517.
  • The chance to try duplicate bridge, the most popular form of bridge in clubs. We are linked with two novice friendly duplicate bridge clubs, the Ruff Club in Camden NW1 (Fridays) and Putney Bridge Club SW15 (Mondays). You will need to know the basics to join these games – ask for guidance if you are unsure. Partners found for single players.
  • Want to start a new group in your area? If you can help us find a pub or bar that would welcome a table or two of bridge players, we have the experience and bridge expertise to get you going. If you think your locality has potential to support a small informal evening bridge group please email or phone Ned - 07792 715517.
