Dave Taylor's Interests

Mountains and...
When not watching television too much, my main interests these days include typography, "popular" science, books, skiing (both downhill and cross country), and, of course, splashing around in the Internet.

The skiing has mostly been in the Alps, and sometimes in the UK, (even once or twice in Frenchay!), but recently Colorado in the USA has been a magnet, especially Copper Mountain in Summit County. From there, easy day trips can be made to resorts such as Keystone, Breckenridge and Vail, where I discovered that I didn't quite have the delicate touch needed to deal with deep powder snow!

In January 1997, for a change, my destination was Les Arcs in the French Alps, to try snowboarding [snoborder]

for the first time. You name the direction, I fell in it! But by the end of the week I was beginning to make my first linked turns. To be continued in January 1998, I hope.

My travels have also taken me to Calgary and the Rockies in Canada (including the Winter Olympics in '88), Iceland, Norway, France, Spain (The Balearics), Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy (including San Marino!), and Ireland. Most of all, I love being amongst mountains, but these days don't get there as much as I used to or would like.

I have collections, or rather, accumulations of various things, including books on typography and representations of goats. The coffee mugs are slowly taking over the kitchen.
