Background A small, select, group of us have been skiing together for around 12 years now. We started out our ski careers with a friend, Don Kremer, who ran a company called Snow Time in Meribel, France. We skied with Don in France for a good few years before being lured by the American slopes. We visited Heavenly in Lake Tahoe, California, and didn't go back to France for quite a few years. Our absence from the French slopes ended in January 1999 when we took a long weekend in Chamonix with Ski Weekend. I expect this will become a regular thing as California is definitely too far away for less than a weeks skiing! We've also skied at Banff and Whistler and skied Mammoth in the summer. We never do anything too crazy, we're happy just to have improved a little each year. Chamonix was fun, as we had an excellent guide (Gerome from Ski Sensations in Chamonix) who took us on some wonderful, steep, deep, off piste trips. We almost managed to ski them... Equipment I have a pair of Salomon X-Scream Series and an old pair of Prolink Superforce 92S skis, Michelle and Ian ski Salomon Axendo 9's, Ed skis X-Screams too and Fiona has a pair of Salomon X-Mountain's. Most of us have Goode ski poles... In the past I've skied "Big Feet" which were a blast - and great for forcing you to get your weight forward! The Future... Well, it looks like no more skiing for me until next season. I can't convince anyone to come with me to Mammoth again before they shut down in July... I think we might try Whistler next year. Now, if only I could find a contract where the work could be done "away from the office", needed around 5 people, with C++, Unix, NT, database, COM, internet and IP law experience.... You provide the work, we'll provide the condo in Mammoth and the ISDN line... Work in the morning, ski in the afternoon and work the evenings... Bliss... |
