Success for East Anglia BoysIn 1987 the East Anglia Youth Competition accepted an invitation to send two representative teams to the German Rhineland International Youth Soccer Tournament. After a very enjoyable event few realised that this was the formation of East Anglia Boys, now one of the most successful youth teams in the country. Since 1987 teams from East Anglia Boys have travelled all over the World. Apart from their extensive travels throughout Europe their teams have visited USSR and since 1992 they have competed in the USA Cup in Minneapolis. In one of the world's largest youth tournaments, the Dana Cup (Denmark), East Anglia Boys have won 15 trophies in six years. These include awards every year since 1991 for Best Visiting Team. When you consider over 800 teams enter at the Dana Cup these awards are very special to everyone at East Anglia Boys. In 1993 we enjoyed our most successful year to date. After winning the Under 10, 11 and 12 competitions at the representative Canary Cup Classic in early May we travelled to the LKB Cup (Denmark), Antwerp Cup (Belgium) and Almere Cup (Holland), winning sections at every tournament! We also made our first ever trip to Sweden to compete in the highly rated Aros Cup International Tournament. Our Under 13's played really well, defeating Norwich City 2 0 in the final. In July 1994 we made our third visit to the USA Cup in Minneapolis. This event is the largest of it's kind in the U.S.A. and without doubt is one of the most popular tours with the players. Everyone makes East Anglia Boys so welcome and our reputation for skill and sportsmanship has won us many friends. In 1992 our players were thrilled to meet the great Pele, who was a special guest at the USA Cup. In 1993 our Under 14's won the USA Cup, a glittering success for a great bunch of boys. Everyone at East Anglia was very proud of the team's achievement. In 1994 our Under 12's lost the USA Cup semi-final on a penalty shoot-out against one of Russia's top teams. Despite the players disappointment they showed sportsmanship of the highest level and won great praise from the tournament organisers. "East Anglia Boys showed us all their high standards remain, regardless of the result, and they are respected everywhere they go" stated Paul Erickson, Executive Director, U.S.A. Sport Commission. In 1994 East Anglia Boys finished 3rd in the Reebok World Championships in Florida, U.S.A. When you look at the two teams who finished above them, Brazil and Columbia, the players achieved a fantastic result. In 1998 East Anglia Boys were successful in winning the Swedish Aros Cup and the Dutch Almere Championship. The highlight of the year was to win four championships at the 1998 Colorado Cup in Denver, USA. History of East Anglia BoysFounded in 1975, the East Anglia Youth Football Competitions have grown from just 52 teams in 1975-76 season to a staggering 900 teams in the 1994-95 season.
