I have been developing these lampshades since 1980, but it was only with the introduction of low-wattage, low-heat, compact fluorescents in the early nineties that the possibilities really opened up. Also significant was the invention of long-life, durable resins, which means that these shades have an indefinite life-span, the antiques of the next millennium - 'Tiffany for the year 2000'
These bulbs last up to 10 times as long as conventional bulbs. They also use only about 20% of the electricity used by a conventional bulb.
If everyone used these bulbs then we could slow global warming.
Over the years I have also used this wax and fibre glass laminate to produce chess-sets, backgammon boards, and jewellery
