jogscotland

jogscotland is a national programme funded by the Health Education Board of Scotland (HEBS), sportscotland and Scottish Athletics to establish a network of jogging groups that beginners and improvers can join.

There are programmes being run by Edinburgh Leaisure at Meadowbank, Craiglockhart, Portobello and Glenogle. In June 2002 Pentland Runners/ Harmeny set up one of the first club based groups in Balerno, meeting Wednesday evenings.

On joining the programme, you  receive a training / information log-book and a jogscotland T-shirt. The total cost of the programme will be £30: £15 to jogscotland to cover the cost of the materials supplied, and £15 to the local organision providing the volunteer jog-leaders, in this case Pentland Runners / Harmeny Athletic Club.

The jog-leaders for this programme are Anne and Bob Douglas (449-6105).

We are restarting a beginners walk / jog group in April 2003. More experienced runners, including some of last years beginners who've progressed to longer distances over the winter will form an improvers group.

Pentland Runners is an informal network for joggers/ recreational runners which is being promoted by Harmeny Athletic Club.
