How Long Has It Taken You
To Visit All 92?
Just
over 18 years in total. Up until the start of this season I had seen Luton play
on nearly 60 of the grounds but this season have been visiting 1 sometimes 2
grounds a week! I have seen over 40 games up until now and have visited over 30
new grounds.
Best Ground visited (& why).
The Reebok Stadium, Bolton Wanderers. A great stadium with great facilities and the only modern stadium that seems to have managed to transfer the atmosphere from their old ground. Old Trafford is a good ground and worth mentioning but the fact that there is 67,000 people and so little noise means Bolton get the Nod
Poorest Ground Visited:
Manor Ground, Oxford United is awful. 13 different stands, of which no two are the same says it all, I also had to pay £15 to have the pleasure of standing on an open terrace in the pouring rain! Also very poor was Macclesfield Town.
Best experience on your travels:
Seeing
Luton win 1-0 at Brunton Park, Carlisle United on a Tuesday night the day before
my 21st Birthday! The injury time winner made a very long journey worthwhile.
Also worth mentioning Brian Stein’s winner for Luton v Arsenal in the League
Cup Final in 1988 and Paul Scholes double for England at Hampden Park in the
Euro 2000 Play Off.
Daniel At Carlisle:

Worst experience on your travels:
After winning 2-1 at Ninian Park, Cardiff City in the 5th Round of the FA Cup, we were locked on the open terrace for nearly 30 mins to let the Cardiff fans disperse. They didn’t and shortly after game finished they started throwing bricks and glass bottles on to the terrace, not much fun. Over an hour after the game we got back to our coach only to find that the windows had been smashed! Funnily enough I haven’t gone back since!
Funniest experience on your travels:
Not at the time but looking back, the incident at Ninian Park, Cardiff City was quite funny.
Most Goals Seen In One Match:
9 at Kenilworth Road, Luton Town 7 - 2 Mansfield Town. Lars Elstrup scored a great hat-trick on a very memorable night.
Best Goal Seen:
Mick
‘The God’ Harford at Kenilworth Road for Luton Town v Oldham Athletic in
1994. He scored an overhead kick from the edge of the area in the last minute to
win 2-1 on his second debut for the Hatters.
Best Match Attended:
Littlewoods Cup Final 1988 at Wembley. Luton Town 3 Arsenal 2. Simply the best day of my life!
Stupidest Chant Heard:
Luton
Fans singing “Always look on the bright side of life” and “we're gonna win
7-6” in an FA Cup Replay at The Dell, Southampton which we lost 6-0.
Any
tips for those attending to visit the 92?
Support
a club that plays in all 4 divisions in a short space of time! If you cannot do
that plan your travels each season, don’t visit all the grounds close by and
leave Exeter, Plymouth and Darlington to the end. Also try and combine grounds
in the same location, i.e. I saw Hartlepool on a Saturday then Newcastle on the
Sunday, with the money I saved I had a great night out in Newcastle! Finally,
for obvious reasons don’t travel too far if the weather forecast isn’t very
good!
