The Munich Air Disaster Memorial

The memorial plaque pictured above is located on a wall on one side of the East Stand. It lists the players and officials lost in the Munich Air Disaster in 1958. One of the players lost was forward Duncan Edwards who lost his life at just 21 years of age. Duncan was born and lived most his life in Dudley in the Black Country. The town erected a statue in his memory in October 1999 in the High Street. To see a photo of this statue click here.
