19th November

This event, introduced by Kevin Bailey, was a co-production with Acorn Book Company to coincide with the launch of The Acorn Book of Contemporary Haiku, compiled and edited by Kevin Bailey and Lucien Stryk.

Competition read-in.

The actors performed Autumn Acorns.

The read-in winners were Roy Batt and Rudi Haskell. They will return for the read-in final at the end of the Spring 2001 season.

10th December

This event, introduced by William Cookson, was a co-production with Anvil Press to coincide with the launch of William Cookson's A Guide to the Cantos of Ezra Pound. The attendance was surely a record for Piccadilly Poets, with extra seating having to be brought in from another part of the Centre.

Competition read-in.

The actors performed But the Light Sings Eternal, a celebration of the work of Ezra Pound. William Cookson read from his book several of the Cantos and some of his commentary on them.

The read-in winners were Celia Barry, Jane Elder and Lynne Knowles. They will return for the read-in final at the end of the Spring 2001 season.
