[Sunday afternoon events] -[Venues] - [Read-ins] - [Actors] - [Poets] - [Winners]
All Sunday afternoon events take place at the Diorama Arts Centre. They begin at 4:00 pm with a Competition Read-in. (Wiinners will qualify for the Final at the end of the Spring 2001 season). There is then an interval, followed by Poetry in Performance:
Books by the poets performing will be on sale.
Admission £4-00, concessions £2-50.
5th November
Competition read-in.
The guest poet was Philip Wells.
The actors performed A Nowhere Empire.
19th November
This event, introduced by Kevin Bailey, was a co-production with Acorn Book Company to coincide with the launch of The Acorn Book of Contemporary Haiku, compiled and edited by Kevin Bailey and Lucien Stryk.
Competition read-in.
The actors performed Autumn Acorns.
The read-in winners were Roy Batt and Rudi Haskell. They will return for the read-in final at the end of the Spring 2001 season.
10th December
This event, introduced by William Cookson, was a co-production with Anvil Press to coincide with the launch of William Cookson's A Guide to the Cantos of Ezra Pound. The attendance was surely a record for Piccadilly Poets, with extra seating having to be brought in from another part of the Centre.
Competition read-in.
The actors performed But the Light Sings Eternal, a celebration of the work of Ezra Pound. William Cookson read from his book several of the Cantos and some of his commentary on them.
The read-in winners were Celia Barry, Jane Elder and Lynne Knowles. They will return for the read-in final at the end of the Spring 2001 season.
