Over the pass few years we have been asked by UK school students who are
taking their GCSE exams in Food Technology to help them with aspects of either
Lactose Intolerance or soya products as part of their course work. With this is
mind we have prepared these pages which we hope will be of help to you in the UK
and hopefully across the world.
The site is divided into 3 parts.
The menu below will help you navigate around this section of
No cow's milk for me thanks. At the bottom of each page is this icon which will
return you to this page.
1. Lactose intolerance
a. What is lactose
intolerance?
b. Symptoms of lactose
intolerance
2. Milk
and Soya Milk
a. Composition of cow's milk and
soya milk
b. Comparison of various types
of mammal's milk
c. How soya milk is
made
3.Foods available
a. General information
b. Soya products
c. Non soya dairy free products
As a further help we have prepared a glossary of words and phases that will give the student a better understanding of the subject. The glossary can be viewed by clicking the blue words which are links to the glossary and by clicking the word in the glossary to return you back to the page you were using. Finally part of the course is the design of the packaging for the product and as the law has change regarding labelling of food products check out the School of Food Biosciences, The University of Reading site on Food Law

For further help with GCSE science subjects I would recommend The Module Club.
The Module Club is a new type of out-of-school study facility for G.C.S.E. and 'A'
Level students at school or in Sixth Form college.
The Module Club integrates subject teaching with vital management and study
skills that you should be able to apply to every other study you undertake.
They will show you the best ways of writing your notes, learning your work,
managing it and applying it to examination questions. The Club was devised by
qualified teachers specifically to give this extra dimension to students. Numbers
are limited and will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis to ensure
sufficient resources for everyone. GCSE modules are available for Physics,
Chemistry and Biology.
