Mother& Toddler Group
The Mother and Toddler group is for very young children 6 months-3 years old. This is a time when as parents you are worried about your child's development and were probably told to "lets wait and see" this is not a time for waiting it is time to take constructive action, as the "wait and see" will produce nothing but lost time, and time is not on your side. Early intervention is what is required because the child needs expert help towards the milestones that children need to achieve in their early development. The child would be assessed at the school for his/her suitability to take part in this form of education and if found suitable would be required to take part in the full Programme available. The assessment which is free could be just one hour or alternatively it could last for a number of weeks so parents should be prepared for this eventuality. The group starts at 8:30 am and continues until 2 pm which includes the lunch period, as feeding is part of the Programme. The Programme is both active and passive for this age group it is complex but made as colorful as possible, there is a lot of emphasis on the senses, seeing, hearing and improvement in the concentration. As with all our very young children's Programmes some children may need to build up their Programme time, and for this reason we remain flexible with the timing of the Programme for some children. One parent or a suitable helper will be with the child at all times and work directly with and under the group leaders instructions. As the child develops the Programmes are adjusted to suit , and a time will come when a decision will be made for the child to move to the nursery group or even the preschool group depending upon the individual circumstances.
