Marcel
Dürst has been appointed as Latin Link's new International Team Leader.
Formerly in Peru and now based in his home country of Switzerland, Marcel
reflects Latin Links increasingly global perspective.
He
says, I believe Latin Link is where the heart of mission is today
and Im excited to be part of it. Were partnering, networking,
and enabling Latins to go into mission themselves.
Marcel
takes over from John Chapman who defined Latin Links modern approach
to mission when two older missionary societies merged in 1991. He will
devote half his time to Latin Link internationally and half to developing
Latin Link in Switzerland, where it is known as Latino Partners.
'Marcel will
give continuity, and bring something fresh to Latin Link'
John
Chapman is to take up a curacy in the Church of England following his
ordination at the end of June. He sees Marcel Dürst as a natural
successor, having worked closely with him: Im absolutely thrilled
with Marcels appointment. He will give continuity, and bring something
fresh to Latin Link out of his own personality and gifts he is
a visionary, but with a pastors heart.
Says
Marcel, I think it was Henry Ford who said, Why is it that
when I ask for an extra pair of hands I get a whole person? Well,
Im glad theres a whole person behind a pair of hands! I want
people to benefit from Latin Link, to find their niche, and fulfil the
mission of Christ wherever they are. If we can help them, its all
part of the mission of Latin Link.
Marcel
Dürst will assume full responsibility for his new role at Latin Links
International Assembly in Brazil in September.
