Latin Link partner wins book award

Sound biblical teaching is essential to the life of the church and quality books are one way of ensuring that Latin American Christians get the teaching they need.

Brazilian Christian publisher, the Editora Cristã Evangélica (ECE), has won first prize in the Christian Education category of the Christian Booksellers Association awards for 2001 for their study book ‘A Cruz de Cristo’ based on John Stott’s ‘The Cross of Christ’.

Latin Link's John Barnett, managing editor of ECEThe organisation produces books and Sunday school teaching materials for young people and the adult market. Latin Link’s John Barnett (right) is Managing Editor.

The award will be presented to John’s colleague Pastor Marcos Vinicius de Oliveira at the Bienal do Livro, Latin America’s largest book fair taking place from 25 April to 5 May in São Paulo. John sees the fair as a great opportunity to reach a wider audience and is encouraged that the city council is giving tokens to local school children to spend at the fair. ECE has halved the price of its young people’s books allowing the children to buy three with their tokens.

ECE has just launched a new book on stewardship ‘Tudo Entregarei’ (I Surrender), a title inspired by Frances Ridley Havergal’s hymn, ‘Take my life and let it be’. ‘What God is this?’ a book on the Trinity for young people, was also published recently.
