THE
SEYCHELLES Lemuria
Resort Praslin Island was named after the Duke de Choiseul de Praslin, a minister of Louis XV. Although the Seychelles were ceded to the English in 1811, they all retain a French influence. Praslin is exceptional in that it is, ecologically, almost totally unspoilt. It is home to the sea coconut, unique in the plant world, and only a few metres away from Anse Kerlan, site of Lemuria, is the bird reserve of Cousin Island where cardinals, fodies and warblers nest. Lemuria is set on the northwest coast of this perfect tropical island paradise, where white sands edge the turquoise seas and surrounding hills encircle the resort protectively, ensuring shelter from prevailing winds. The buildings are designed to be in harmony with the preserved natural beauty of the environment.
The main building lies on the slope of a hill, overlooking the beach and the tropical gardens. Buildings are simple yet elegant: natural materials such as wood, thatch and stone are sympathetic to the spirit of the island. The main restaurant, lounges and reception area are light, airy and have wide verandas. The eighty-eight suites are scattered about the lovely grounds, and have floor-to ceiling windows to make the most of the beautiful quality of light.
The sparkling pool has three levels, which cascade down from the building towards the sea. Facilities are excellent. A fully equipped gymnasium and fitness centre, combined with water sports facilities, tennis and golf ensure entertainment throughout your stay. Take yourself to this lovely tropical island with its soft breezes, glittering sea and white sands where the turtles still come to lay their eggs.
