Sun City, Cape Town and Garden Route
DAYS 1, 2 & 3 - KRUGER -
Ngala Lodge
Arrival at Jans Smuts Airport, where you will be met and assisted for
your flight (included) to Skukuza. Arrive at Skukuza Airport and transfer
to Ngala Lodge. The Ngala Reserve, home to one of the highest concentrations
of lion in South Africa, is situated within the Timbavati Reserve adjacent
to the Kruger National Park and shares the Kruger's exceptional bio-diversity.
Huge breeding herds of elephant favour the dense Mopane forests and frequently
wander through the camp The lodge is unashamedly luxurious and sophisticated.
Chairs to sink into, richly woven rugs and artefacts collected from throughout
the continent give an authentic "old Africa feel". The cottages are superbly
decorated and set quietly away in a secluded part of the camp. At Ngala
you will set off at first light or late afternoon on exciting and fascinating
game drives and bush walks with skilled rangers and trackers. Night game
drives offer a chance to see the elusive leopard, aardvark, pangolin and
caracal. In the afternoons you may relax at the pool enjoying the lovely
scenery of the Reserve. Accommodation is inclusive of all meals, teas,
coffee and laundry.
DAY 4 - 6 - SUN CITY - Palace
of the Lost City
Transfer to Skukuza Airstrip for your flight (included) to SunCity. Transfer
to the Palace of the Lost City. Legend tells us that a truly magnificent
palace was built for their king by an ancient civilisation from the north
of Africa. The Palace of the Lost City is a recreation of that palace
and is deservedly famous for its opulence and luxury. Exquisite mosaics,
frescoes and hand-painted ceilings pay tribute to the craftsmen that constructed
them. Luxurious rooms come with wonderful views over water or jungle.
Beyond the immediate area of the hotel lie the attractions of Sun City
- 24 hour entertainment, with casinos, shows with international superstars
and traditional themed extravaganzas, interactive video and fun-fair games,
cinemas, shops, restaurants, bars and swimming pools. Golfers are very
well catered for with the Gary Player Golf Course and the desert style
Lost City Golf Course. Sun City also offers the opportunity to surf 1.8
metre waves or indulge in parasailing, waterskiing, horse-riding, bowls,
mountain biking, squash and tennis. A health spa offers amazing beauty
treatments, massage, gym, jacuzzi and steambath. Overnight on bed and
breakfast.
DAY 7 - 9 - CAPE TOWN - The
Bay Hotel
Transfer to Sun City Airport for your flight (included ) to Cape Town,
probably the most charming of South Africa's cities. Transfer to The Bay
hotel. Caught between the mountains and the deep blue sea, The Bay allows
you to enjoy the natural beauties of the Cape, yet is only ten minutes
from the heart of Cape Town. The hotel overlooks the beautiful stretch
of beach at Camp's Bay and each of the bedrooms has a wonderful view of
the ocean, Table Mountain or the craggy Twelve Apostles. Cape Town is
a great city to visit. There are endless trips to be made and places to
visit. Activities included over the two days are a visit to the Table
Mountains and a full day excursion to the spectacular Cape Peninsula where
you will travel past Sea Point, Camps Bay, the famous beaches of Clifton
and towards Hout Bay via Chapmans Peak Drive. After lunch enroute, you
will continuel to Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and ride the funicular
to the scenic view point where the Atlantic and the Indian Oceans meet.
The return journey will take you past the beautiful Boulders Beach, famous
for its Jackass Penguins, and Simon's Town, a quaint and popular cape
resort. You may also visit the bustlingVictoria and Alfred Waterfront,
Robben Island, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and the numerous museums
and vineyards nearby. Excellent restaurants, such as the Blues and the
Bukhara are within easy reach but must be booked in advance. Overnight
at the Bay Hotel on bed and breakfast basis.
DAY 10 - 12 - GARDEN ROUTE -
Plettenberg Park
After breakfast you will be driven on the Garden Route, with sightseeing
enroute. to the Plettenberg Park in Plettenberg Bay. The Garden Route,
the strip of land between Stilbaai and Port Elizabeth on the south coat,
is one of South Africa's best known areas. Lushly verdant, it lies between
the deeply forested peaks of the Outeniqua and the Tsitsikamma mountains
and beaches lapped by the Indian Ocean. These geographical conditions
provide the area with a temperate micro-climate responsible for the green,
almost English, landscape, with its rivers, lakes and green fields. The
Plettenberg Park is tranquil and quite lovely and gazes out to sea from
the top of a cliff. It has only four guest rooms, and this very real exclusivity
allows you to be cacooned from the rest of the world. The hotel is stunningly
decorated in the clear, clean neutrals that suit the modern architectural
style so well. Outside is wonderful silvery-oak decking and a breathtaking
landscape of sea and cliffs. An inviting path winds down to a sand platform
at the water's edge. The food at Plettenberg Park is carefully considered.
Meals are planned in consultation with guest and chef. Presentation is
exquisite and meals delight the eye as well as the palate. Day excursions
include trips to the famous cango caves, ostrich farm and the surrounding
areas, or you may simply wish to spend your days by the pool and the sand
platform. You will also have access to water-sports, golf, riding or whale
watching trips (between July-September), all at additional cost.
DAY 13 - DEPARTURE
