Dave Dixey, Sorted Supremo, Speaks to the Nation

The Freed Unit's latest single "The City" was released on the 24th of November and virtually sold out straight away- we have about 20 copies left at 2 pounds each but have now pressed up a further 200 copies on clear vinyl. These have also almost sold out but we have a few left at £2.50.

Guaranteed to be a future collector's item ! Record Collector said : "An undercurrent of lo-fi squiggly synths props up this plaintive slice of bedroom melancholia. But there's nothing downbeat about The Freed Unit. "Things are looking up", they sing, as their battery powered electronica heaves and swells, soothing the pain in their sweet baby souls." Aaah. The previous Freed Unit single, "Things are looking up" is becoming a bit of a collectors item and is being sold in certain shops for FOUR QUID!! but there's no need to get ripped off- we still have a very few copies left for only two pounds. Alternatively you could order it from your local indie shop as Cargo still have a few as well.

The Freed's second album "Things are looking up" will be released in the new year, as will John Sim's album "Palamino" which is FANTASTIC !! The group's svengali, Joni has finally allowed some rough mixes to be heard a= nd it's grooooovy. Start saving your pennies now.

The fifth and penultimate Sorted EP, "Induction loop" is set for release = in January and features "Air Vent Telephone Vasectomy" by Ears go Fff plus tracks by The Fabiens, Mel McCrory and Unknown Stuntman.

And finally, the second compilation album, the VINYL ONLY follow up to the CD only "Ashtray Heart" is shaping up- new additions to this include The Melons and The Creams (Alan Jenkins- ex-Deep Freeze Mice) but this is where you- yes you- come in because we want a title for it and we are willing to give YOU A FREE COPY OF THE ALBUM if you come up with the best title. Assuming we use it that is- we might think of something better ourselves! Ha! So get your thinking caps on and e-mail us at 100714.2636@compuserve.com.
