It's been a busy couple of months for the ever-growing Sorted Empire, with two especially big gigs just lately.
Brain Cakes was officially launched on July 30th at the Princess Charlotte, with a gig featuring John Sims, F.P.V., Lazarus Clamp and Voon, making for three hours packed with stuff. A surprisingly large number of people (i.e. over several) came from far and wide to see and buy, for which we thank you all.
And then, a few weeks later, it was time for Abbey Park, when almost every band on the roster gave their all for one of the biggest audiences on site. Everything went off with the clinical military precision for which the Sorted Empire is justly famed, with those Dj Dave and MC Turk keeping the Kids going with the Tube Bar Roadshow. Highights included Brian & the Teenager chasing early leavers around the site, and the TV camera in the backstage area, where various people made drunken arses of themselves in interviews. No names, no pack-drill. Most of the artistes then retired to the tube bar at the end of an even more succesful day than last year, vowing to do it all again. Photographs exist, and will be on this page sooner than you can imagine.
And now it's back to normal for a little while, with Lazarus Clamp, The Freed Unit, Kev Hewick, John Sims, and the newly solo members of Voon all out and about and gigging far and wide. The Freed Unit and Kev Hewick return to the Guildhall on August 30th, while John Sims and Mark from Voon promote the Work EP at the Physio & Firkin on October 3rd. The launch party for this great record takes place at the Garage in Islington on September 16th, with The Family Way and Go Kart 800 playing too, and if you're around the capital, you can also catch Lazarus Clamp at the Hope & Anchor on September 22nd.
So go see.
