Time for a long-overdue Pickled Egg status report. Lots of interesting new things about to happen in the New Year. But first ...an update on what's currently still available.
The excellent Daniel Johnston single, "Dream Scream" is selling fast - in fact, it's almost sold out already! But fear not, because from early January, there will be a ltd edition white vinyl pressing available. But I suggest you don't hang around too long! In spite of what some of you might have read in Record Collector magazine, this is one of Daniel's finest ever works, and that's saying something.
The L'augmentation single, "Soleil", is now virtually sold out. It's unlikely that this will be repressed, (but you never know...). There's a few copies still lying around here and there, but again, don't hang around!
Firstly ....at long last! ....the Pop-Off Tuesday LP is now almost upon us. And it's fucking brilliant! You'll have noticed also, that there's now at last a link to a Pop-Off Tuesday webpage, courtesy of those nice people at Robots and Electronic Brains. The album is released on the 18th January, and is available in CD and ltd edition (500) vinyl ...in gatefold sleeve!!
Also coming in the New Year ....the debut release - a mini album - from Leicester's eccentric experimental/surrealist quartet, Volcano The Bear. I hope to get some sound samples up soon. Watch out for a 1000 word interview with the group in the January edition of The Wire magazine. Also, there's a collaboration lp with Nurse With Wound in the pipeline too.
Look out too for the debut UK release of The Evolution Control Committee's outrageous (and quite literal) collision of Public Enemy with Herb Alpert, in 'The Whipped Cream Mixes' 7". This should hopefully be available around February.
