This is the Lazarus Clamp web site (don't panic, you're probably just lost...). Although if this is the page that you were looking for, but it doesn't contain the information that you wanted, you can either write to us (you know - a letter?) care of Sorted Records (the full postal address is on the main Sorted page) or you can e-mail us too.
Lazarus Clamp are a four-piece, Leicester-and-London-based guitar band. Michael and Andrew, the band's songwriters, decided to form the band after meeting at a Rodan gig in early 1994. Kim and Mark joined the band later that summer. Numerous gigs followed over the next two years - both in Leicester, and elsewhere.
"The foursome produce a bewitching noise, drawing from influences as diverse as the Dead Kennedys and Galaxie 500"
(Leicester Mercury).

(What we look like).
A second demo tape was recorded in February and this was passed on to Dave Dixey, of local indie label, Sorted Records. As a result when the band recorded a third session in June, we contributed one of the tracks to the Sorted Records sampler compilation, 'Ashtray Heart,' which was released late in 1995. The five songs recorded in February and June were also made available on our own "Usually Dry-Eyed," cassette.
"Along comes a fair old smattering of quality in the form of Lazarus Clamp's 'Excavator,' a haunting, rather beautiful song that stands up to repeated listenings, and has great bassline."
(LE1 Magazine, reviewing 'Ashtray Heart').
More recently Lazarus Clamp played a highly-praised set at Leicester's Abbey Park Festival (a letter from one particularly impressed visitor to the Sorted stage was published in the N.M.E. We followed this with our London debut - a well-received shouting match at the Bull and Gate - and finished the summer off at the first Framlingham Festival, in Sussex, as organised by Nigel Melon.
"Usually Dry-Eyed" (Excavator, Cast, Lavaman, Biter, I'm So Tired; colour sleeve, chrome cassette), and "Scaling Down," (Donkey Song, Cipher, Waxing Fat, Real Sweetness; colour sleeve, chrome cassette), are both available for £1.99 each, postage paid - write to us c/o Sorted.
"Excavator" is available on the Ashtray HeartCD (eighteen songs - including tracks by Prolapse, Slinky, Cha Cha 2000, John Sims, and Kooky Monster; CD only) is available for £7.50 from Sorted Recordsc/o Dave Dixey, The Durham Ox, Bowling Green Street, Leicester, LE1 6AS. "Epiphany for Filter and Map" is available the Brain Cakes EP
During the winter we played in London (twice), and began working on a few new ideas - until some bad news threw us off kilter ... Early in March, Mark told us that he felt he had to leave the band, due to the demands of other commitments. A tearful farewell gig ensued on 14th March, and since then we've been seeking to find a replacement. He'll be sadly missed.
The good news is that we have found a new drummer (well, we think its good news), and we should be playing live again by June. His name is Huw, and he's lovely.
We've yet to decide whether or not to re-record the two songs 'with a marine theme' which were to form the basis of our first single later this year. The plan, however, remains the same: versions of "Bosporus" and "Bay of Biscay" featuring either the drumming of Mark or Huw, ought to be available soon.
