Horizon 22

Shura Greenberg Martin Slade Andrea Trillo Paul Strange

"Super cool tunes in the early JTQ mould. Hammond led, groove driven. Perfect for hazy nights in lazy bars. One of the UK's brightest hopes in the new millennium Blue Note revival."

Tris Dickin, Spitz Promoter.

Horizon 22 are a powerful Hammond-led soul-jazz instrumental quartet. Formed in February 1998 by guitarist Martin Slade and keyboardist Paul Strange to fuse 60s Blue Note Hammond organ grooves with film soundtrack atmospherics, the present line-up has been together for three years. To date the quartet has headlined at London's Jazz Cafe, the Spitz near Shoreditch, the Backstage Jazz Bar at the Spice of Life on Cambridge Circus, the Mother Bar in the 333 in Old Street, and played a residency at l'Odeon bar and restaurant in Piccadilly.

Musically trading in the grits 'n' gravy 60s workouts of Jimmy Smith and Wes Montgomery, blended with spooky film soundtracks, Booker T and the MGs and early JTQ, Horizon 22 are currently working on their debut CD, due for release later this year. Various members of Horizon 22 have worked with Keith Tippett, Alex Wilson, Jonathan Gee, Sebastian Rochford, Kelvin Christiane, Dave O'Higgins and Tim Richards.

Check out The Gigs for more news of where we are playing in 2004, and for a review of our gig at the Mother Bar.
