Air Traffic Services

ATC opr hrs 0800 - 1700 Mon-Fri. ATZ opr hrs H24

Although Wattisham Approach is not part of the LARS scheme, it can provide a service, generally within 20nm of the airfield, clear of controlled airspace, and below FL95. Subject to controller workload.

The following services may be requested by aircraft in the area or requiring MATZ penetration: Radar Advisory Service, Radar Information Service, or Flight Information Service.

**Radar services will be limited to SSR only. Only aircraft with servicable transponders will participate.**

Radar Advisory Service aims to provide horzontal seperation of 3nm between aircraft working Wattisham or 5nm from other aircraft, unless 1000ft vertical seperation is known to exist. The pilot will be informed of the position of conflicting traffic, followed by action to provide seperation. In exceptional circumstances, avoiding action may be given before the position of the conflicting traffic.

Radar Information Service provides only traffic information, i.e. bearing, distance, and height if known, of conflicting traffic. No avoiding action will be offered and pilots are wholly responsible for maintaining seperation from other traffic.

Training Approaches to Wattisham can be accepted subject to traffic, this can change at very short notice, and prior booking does not guarantee an approach. (01449 728234 (Air Traffic Control ).

Types of approach available are: Precision Approach, Surveillance Radar Approach, and ILS. ILS is only available to Rwy 23.

Due to lack of bird control, fixed wing aircraft are to overshoot at 250ft or above.
