Groundforce CD![]()
|
||||
| The Black Dyke Band are very
proud to announce their collaboration on a new CD, featuring music from the highly
successful BBC television gardening series "Groundforce". The
programme, which features gardening guru Alan Titchmarsh, regularly captures audiences of
12.5 million plus and the CD will include pieces specially written by Jim Parker for the
new series due out later in the year. The Band have also appeared on one of the programmes. It all takes place at a place called . . . sorry, this is top secret. For our readers from other countries I will explain, this is a programme where a viewer writes in as a surprise for someone else requesting a makeover of their garden while they are on holiday. Three gardening people from the programme come along and transform everything and when the person returns it is a total surprise. The idea is to give advice to viewers with a practical approach by experts. The Band are also playing the background music throughout the series. STOP PRESS... Watch out for 'Songs of Praise' Sunday 26th September which will also feature the Band |

| Stepping
into the Future Our Chairman, Mr. Donald Hanson, has intimated at retirement for some time now. The response to this from the Trustees was a polite 'deaf ear', or an assurance that 'we will review it later'. In true style Mr. Hanson persevered, always with a mind to benefit Black Dyke Band (of which he is a fervent supporter) and its future, he introduced his friend of long standing Sir James Hill who was offered and accepted the position of Chairman. Mr. Hanson has agreed at the Band's request to become President, surely a double win for Black Dyke Band. Sir James Hill Bart D.L. is a fourth generation 'Woolman', a praiseworthy terminology used in the West Riding of Yorkshire, of men held in high esteem by their contemporaries. Sir James has been the chairman of Cancer Support in Bradford for a number of years, he is a Past Provost Warden of Bradford Cathedral and was chairman of the fundraising committee for 'The Spirit of Bradford', a successful pageant of activities celebrating the city's centenary. |
